Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is undertaking the renovation of its hospital in British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the construction of a new patient care tower and related facilities to be developed in two phases.
The first phase includes the construction of a 26,170m2, six-story patient care tower. It includes construction of a new walk-in care center, a surgical services center, 84 surgical inpatient beds in single-patient rooms, a medical device-reprocessing unit, and related infrastructure.
The second phase includes the renovation of the hospital. It includes the expansion of the emergency department, pharmacy, laundry and material stores.
Partnerships BC has been appointed as project manager.
The development will be funded jointly by the provincial government with US$169 million, the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional Hospital District will provide US$113 million, and the South Okanagan-Similkameen Medical Foundation will provide US$18 million in funding.
On July 30, 2014, the project received approvals from the government.
On September 18, 2014, PRH issued request for qualifications (RFQ) from companies for the development of the project on Design build finance maintain (DBFM) basis with the submissions deadline on November 6, 2014 and six companies were expressed their interest.
On December 22, 2014, three companies including EllisDon Infrastructure, Plenary Health and Tandem Health Partners were shortlisted and request for proposal (RFP) to be issued for these companies in February 2015 with the contractor to be awarded in the first quarter of 2016.
On August 11, 2015, the project secured an amount of US$50,000 from South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation.
Ellis Don Infrastructure has been appointed as contractor and Parkin Architects Western Ltd as Architect.
On July 12, 2016, construction activities commenced.
on June 19, 2017, BMO Financial Group has issued that it will fund the project.
Construction works are underway and are slated for completion by 2019.
