PPL Electric Utilities Corporation, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation (PPL), is planning to undertake the construction of a transmission line in the New York, the US.

The project involves the construction of a 765km, 345kV transmission line. It includes the construction of a substation, the installation of transformers, power control units and the laying of transmission lines. The project is planned to be executed in phases.

On October27, 2015, PPL Electric Utilities filed for an interconnection application with New York Independent System Operator (NYISO)

The first phase of the Project Compass is a 153km, 345kV transmission line between Blakely, Pennsylvania to Ramapo, N.Y. This phase of the project is expected to cost US $600 million.

The utility is evaluating costs and modeling for the other phases.

PPL Electric Utilities is seeking approval for the first phase of Project Compass.

First phase is expected to complete by 2023.
