Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) is planning to undertake the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Chitral District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
The project involves the construction of a 58MW hydroelectric power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
On March 6, 2014, PPIB secured planning approval for the project from Ministry of Water and Power.
PPIB issued expression of interest (EOI) for the project on August 11, 2014.with a submission deadline of October 13, 2014, later extended to November 27, 2014 and the final submission date was extended to March 21, 2016.
In March 2016, three companies, Sachal Engineering Works Pvt Ltd, Coastal Saba Power Company Ltd (Consortium of UAE) and Aequitas Pvt Ltd (China) submitted the tender documents.
PPIB has been issued letter of interest (LOI) and feasibility study is underway for the proposed project.
