The Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) is planning to undertake the development of Rajdhani Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.

The project involves the construction of a 132MW run-of-river hydroelectric power plant. It will include the construction of a 201m high Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam, a gate structure, a penstock, a substation and a tailrace channel; and the installation of turbines, generators and transformers; and the laying of transmission lines.

The project is planned to be developed on public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

Iqbal Power Ltd (IPL), a special purpose vehicle formed by Temokin Energy SDN BHD along with local investors, has been appointed as a developer for the project.

Aecom has been appointed to review the existing feasibility study and cost estimates, prepare the construction schedule, drawings, technical specifications and tender documents, and oversee construction and commissioning.

In October 2013, PPIB approved the solicitation of competitive bidding for the project.

Planning activities are underway.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a 132MW run-of-river hydroelectric power plant in Kotli district, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.

The US$198 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a 201m high RCC dam

2. Construction of a gate structure

3. Construction of a pen stock

4. Construction of a substation

5. Construction of a tail race channel

6. Installation of turbines

7. Installation of generators

8. Installation of transformers
