Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) and DP World Vancouver (DPW) are planning to undertake the Centerm terminal expansion project in British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the expansion of the terminal capacity from 900,000 to 1.5 million TEUs per year. It also includes the expansion of the rail yard with the construction of a fifth rail track, an additional quay crane, modernized truck gate systems, an extension of Waterfront Road, a new overpass, a storage facility, loading and unloading facilities, related infrastructure and the installation of machinery.
MMM Group has been appointed as the project management consultant, AECOM will provide owner's Engineer services.
The project costs will be funded by PMV and recover its investment through a revised lease-fee agreement with DPW.
In December 2015, preliminary design activities were completed.
In February 2016, public consultations for preliminary design of the project were completed.
In December 2016, PMV submitted planning permit application for the project.
MMM Group, through a sub-contract, appointed Proactive Infrastructure Consulting (PIC) as the project manager.
The first round of public consultation was held from February 20, 2017 to March 24, 2017.
The second round of public consultation was held from May 15, 2017 to June 2, 2017.
Planning activities are underway.
