Petronet LNG (PLNG) is planning to build an LNG terminal in Kutubdia islands, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
The project involves the construction of an LNG distribution and receiving terminal with a capacity of 7.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). It includes the construction of storage tanks, a control room, pumping stations and related infrastructure, the installation of safety systems and equipment, and the laying of pipelines.
On December 30, 2016, PLNG signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) and in January 2017, PLNG signed a signed a heads of agreement with Petrobangla for the project implementation.
Planning activities are underway. Construction works are scheduled to be completed by 2020.
