PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), PT Kerinci Merangin Hidro (KMH) and PT Bukaka Teknik Utama Tbk (BUKK) are planning to undertake the Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Jambi Province, Indonesia.
The project involves the construction of a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 350MW. It will include the construction of a powerhouse and substations, the installation of turbines, generators, and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project will be developed under public-private partnership (PPP) basis and the funds will come from foreign financial institutions if the government provide guarantee through PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII).
In 2012, ground breaking ceremony was held, later in December 2012, PLN has selected Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) as a financial adviser for the project.
In July 2013, PLN signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KMH on the purchase of electricity. KMH with Kalla Group will be responsible for development and management of the power plant, while PLN will act as the buyer for electricity.
In December 2015, PT Bukaka Teknik Utama Tbk (BUKK) through its subsidiary PT Bukaka Mega Investama (BMI) has acquired 25% stake in the project. PT Bukaka Teknik Utama Tbk is a subsidiary of Kalla Group. BMI operates under BUKK.
