PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to build a power plant in Indramayu, West Java, Indonesia.
The project involves the construction of a 2,000MW steam power plant on 320ha of land, comprising two units (Unit IV & V of Indramayu Power Station), each with a power generating capacity of 1,000MW.
The project includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of generators and transformers, and the laying of 103km transmission lines.
In August 2015, PLN initiated the land acquisition process and acquired 135ha of land for the development of the project.
During November 2015, the local residents started opposing the project development.
In February 2016, the local residents have lodged a complaint with the government to halt the development of the project.
In June 2016, the project received approvals from the government authorities of Indramayu Regency.
Land acquisition process is underway; however, the development is facing delays due to opposition from the local residents.
