The Penrith Lakes Development Corp Ltd (PLDC) in collaboration with the NSW Government (NSWG) is undertaking the rehabilitation at a sand quarry site into urban hub in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

The project involves the construction of infrastructure to support urban facilities that will be built on 1,940ha of land.

The project will include construction of 4,900 homes on 410ha of land, 26km of Lake Foreshore, 20km of cycle ways and pedestrian’s paths, community centers, access roads, parking and related facilities and the installation of drainage and sewer facilities.

It will also feature seven lakes with four for recreational and three for wildlife and passive recreation across a 640ha area.

PLDC in-house division is undertaking the design and construction works.

Burton Contractors Pty Ltd and Ward Civil & Environmental Engineering appointed as civil contractor,Coffey International Ltd, WorleyParsons Engineering Pty Ltd and J Steel Australasia Pty Ltd as design architects.

In February 2014, PLDC submitted to Penrith City Council a development application to consolidate the quarry lands and subdivide them into 23 super lots.

On December 4, 2014, PLDC along with NSWG announced the release of a 20-year Draft Vision Plan for Penrith Lakes Parklands for public consultations.

In March 2015, construction works are underway on the Parkland and rehabilitation works are completed on the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Eastern Lakes and various smaller areas located immediately east of Old Castlereagh Road, Wildlife Lake and Lake B.

On January 20, 2017, the NSW State Government announced the rezoning of more than 450ha of land for the project.

In October 2017, PLDC launched the Penrith Lakes flood mitigation scheme.

Construction works are underway.

Scope

The Penrith Lakes Parkland project involves the rehabilitation of various infrastructure that support urban facilities to be built on 1,940ha of land in Cranebrook, New South Wales, Australia.
