PJM Interconnection (PJM) is planning to undertake a transmission line from New Jersey to Delaware, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 29km transmission line of 500KV from the Red Lion switching station in Delaware to the Hope Creek nuclear power plant in New Jersey.
The project includes the construction of a substation, tower footings base and related infrastructure, the installation of transformers and power control units, and the laying of transmission lines.
In April 2013, PJM announced bid to appoint associate developer.
In June 2014, PJM’s staff recommended that construction responsibility be awarded to PSE&G to construct a 500 kV project running from Hope Creek to the Red Lion substation in Delaware. Subsequently, and after LS Power amended its proposal following the close of the open window to include a cost cap, the PJM Board in July 2014 decided not to approve that recommendation. PSE&G was one of four finalists requested to re-submit bids for the project.
In April 2016, as part of the project re-submission process, PSE&G submitted a bid (the 7K project proposal) for a 500 kV overhead line, running from Hope Creek to Red Lion, and capped its cost for both the line segment of the project and the substation work for its project proposal at Hope Creek at $221 million.
