Providence Healthcare (PHC) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) are planning to build a hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the construction of a 92,903m2 hospital comprising 700 beds on 7.48ha of land. It includes the construction of intensive care units, emergency rooms, research facilities, surgical centers, consultation rooms, operating theaters, outpatient units, an administrative facility, parking spaces and related facilities.
PHC appointed architect IBI Group to look after the rezoning process.
The provincial government has committed US$372 million towards the project.
On March 03, 2016, a public meeting was arranged at open house to collect the feedback from the public regarding the project.
On April 19, 2016, PHC selected Perkins+Will, in association with Sterling Planning Alliance (Sterling) and Farrow as the design team for functional program, concepts, and indicative design.
In June 2016, PHC released two design concepts for the project. The design concepts are named as Urban Court and Pedestrian Spine.
On June 18, 2016, second public meeting was arranged at open house to collect feedback regarding the Urban Court design concept.
On June 23, 2016, third public meeting was arranged at open house to collect feedback regarding the design concept of the project.
Construction activities are expected to be completed in 2023.
