Summary

Pengerang Gas Solution (PGS), a joint venture of Petronas Gas Bhd (PGB) and Linde Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Linde) is planning to construct an air separation unit in Johor, Malaysia.

The project involves the construction of an air separation unit with oxygen production capacity of 1,600 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) of and nitrogen production capacity of 1,800MTPD.

It includes the construction of two separate trains, gas storage tanks, processing units, an administration building, filtration units, cooling units, hydro cracker units and access roads, the installation of furnaces, heaters and incinerators, air-heated vaporizers and heat-exchangers, centralized control system and steam heated vaporizers, and the laying of pipelines.

In November 2014, PGB and Linde signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA). Under the HoA, an air separation unit will be used to create separate atmospheric air into its primary components, typically nitrogen and oxygen.

In September 2016, Linde and PGB established a joint venture company PGS for the project implementation and also secured a long-term gas supply agreement with the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC).

Linde’s engineering division, will design and construct the project and also concluded the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract with PGS.

Planning activities are underway.

Scope

The project aims to construct an air separation unit to produce industrial gases at Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor, Malaysia.

The US$100 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a plant with oxygen production capacity of 1,600MTPA

2. Construction of a plant with nitrogen production capacity of 1,800MTPD

3. Construction of two separate trains
