Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) is undertaking the construction of transmission line in Odisha, India.

The project involves the construction of a 2x765kV single circuit (S/C) transmission line from 765/400kV Angul pooling station to 765/400kV Jharsuguda pooling station on a 379.57ha area. It includes the laying of 467.34km transmission line comprising 389.52km S/C and 77.82km double circuit (D/C) lines.

It includes construction of a substation, and the installation of towers, power transformers and transmission lines.

On December 27, 2010, KEC International Ltd was awarded a contract for supply and construction of 765kV S/C transmission line (389.52km).

Construction of 77.82km D/C line has been divided into two tower packages: TW01 and TW02.

In August 2013, Larsen & Toubro Ltd was awarded US$49 million contract for TW01, and Tata Projects Ltd was awarded US$80 million contract for TW02. The scope of work includes foundation work, the installation of towers and laying of transmission lines.

Tata Projects scope of work includes foundation work and the installation of 440 towers.

In April 2014, PGCIL obtained first stage forest clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for diversion of 379.57ha forest land for building a transmission line.

On May 7, 2014, PGCIL submitted a proposal to Nodal Officer, which later on, was forwarded to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) for formulation.

The project has received Recognition of Forest Right Act (FRA) certificate from District Collector of Sundargarh and Jharsuguda and is waiting from District Collectors of Angul, Sambalpur, Athamalik, Rairakhol and Bamra.

In January 2016, construction works on the first package has been commissioned.

In September 2016, construction of two single line circuit has been completed.

Construction works on the double line circuit is underway.
