Power and Electricity Department Government of Mizoram(PAEDGM) is planning to undertake the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Mizoram, India.
The project involves the construction of a 210MW hydroelectric power plant on 1,600ha of land. It will include the construction of a dam, a powerhouse and a substation, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
Union Finance Ministry has approved US$56 million funding through viability gap funding (VGF) and is planned to be developed on public private partnership (PPP) mode.
In September 2011, NEEPCO invited requests for proposals.
In November 2012, a total of seven companies were shortlisted.
In July 2013, Central Electricity Authority approved plans to build the power plant.
On February 10, 2015, NEEPCO signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Govt. of Mizoram for execution of the project.
Planning activities are underway.
