Origis Energy USA (Origis) is planning to build a solar power plant in Charles County, Maryland, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 27.5MW solar power zone on 121ha of land. It includes the construction of a substation, access roads, and related infrastructure, the installation of 86,000 thin film solar panels and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
On July 13, 2017, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Origis.
Origis is awaiting approvals from Maryland Public Service Commission.
Construction is expected to complete by the second quarter of 2019.
