Orcem Americas, Inc. (Orcem), a subsidiary of Ecocem Materials Ltd, is planning to construct a green cement plant at Vallejo marine terminal, Solano County, California, the US.
The project involves the construction of a cement plant with a production capacity of 2,200 tonnes per day (TPD) on 1.9ha of land. It will include the construction of a quarrying unit, a crushing unit, a blending unit, a drying unit, storage facilities, a packaging and a shipping unit, a clinker unit, parking and other related facilities, and the installation of machinery.
In June 2014, Orcem announced plans to build cement facility during a joint “Manufacturing Matters” meeting between the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce and the Solano Economic Development.
On September 5, 2015, Orcem submitted Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project.
In March 2017, Vallejo Planning Commission rejected the planning application for the project.
In June 2017, Vallejo is in the process of submitting final EIR for the project.
