Oursun Pakistan Ltd (OSPL) a joint venture of Meeco Group, Orient Power and Multinet, is planning to build a solar power plant in Gharo, Sindh, Pakistan.
The project involves the construction of a 50MW solar power plant on 58.2ha of land. It includes the construction of a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of solar panels, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines
On July 16, 2015, OSPL submitted an application for processing and grant of generation license and approval of upfront tariff to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the power.
On August 4, 2015, OSPL acquired land for the project.
On October 15, 2015, geological studies at the site completed.
US$58 million will be generated from debt investment and remaining US$19 million from equity shareholders’ investment.
On February 20, 2017, OSPL signed a 25-year Energy Purchase Agreement (EPA) with Karachi Electric Supply Company Ltd (KE).
Construction works are schedule for completion in the second quarter of 2018.
