Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is undertaking the construction of a coal-fired power plant in Oman.
The project involves the construction of a coal-fired power plant with a capacity ranging between 1,500MW to 2,500MW. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
Poyry Finland Oy has been appointed as study consultant.
OPWP is in the process of appointing consultants to provide advisory services covering the financial, commercial, technical and legal aspects of developing the power plant. The proposed venture will be executed on a build, own and operate (BOO) basis.
The final generation capacity will be determined based on the recommendations of the advisory services team, subject to a final decision by the Government of Oman.
