Orpic Logistics Company (OLC), a joint venture between Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) and Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos (CLH), is undertaking the construction of Muscat to Sohar Pipeline project in Oman.

The project involves the construction of a 290km natural gas pipeline system enabling the possibility for more than 5.4 million m3 to be transported and a new storage terminal with a storage capacity of 170,000m3.

The project includes the construction of storage tanks, a pumping station, an office facility and other related facilities, and the installation related equipment.

The project will be carried out in two phases:

The first phase includes the construction of gas pipeline connecting the Muscat International Airport and the Mina Al Fahal Refinery.

The second phase includes the construction of a new fuel storage terminal with a storage capacity of 170,000m3 at Al Jifnain near Muscat and the gas pipeline that connects the Mina Al Fahal Refinery and the Sohar Refinery.

Mace Group has been appointed by Orpic to provide contract administration, contract engineering and commercial management services.

In July 2014, Orpic issued tender for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with a submission deadline of August 18, 2014. Five companies; Essar, Larsen & Toubro, Punj Lloyd, Gulf Petrochemical Services & Trading (GPS) and Petrojet submitted bids for the project.

OLC signed US$224 million financing agreement with Ahli Bank and Ahli United Bank BSC. In December 2014, GPS, Abantia and Diseprosa was appointed as EPC contractor for the project.

On May 6, 2015, the groundbreaking ceremony was held on the project. On Jun 11, 2015, Tebodin & Partner LLC appointed as Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services contract for the project.

TMK GIPI has been appointed as supply contract for the project.

The construction work slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2017.

The project involves the construction of a 290km natural gas pipeline near Muscat Highway, connecting Sohar and Muscat Refineries in Oman.

The US$320 million project includes the following:
