Old Dominion University (ODU) is planning to undertake the expansion of a football stadium in Norfolk, Virginia, the US.

The project involves the expansion of a foreman field football stadium from 20,118 to 30,004 seats and being developed in phases.

The US$55 million first phase includes the expansion of a stadium from 20,118 to 22,130 seats.

It include the construction of a large scoreboard, a new home locker room, a tall west side tower, dressing rooms, a turf field, a fitness center, 176 loge seat, parking space and other related facilities, and the installation of lights and safety systems.

ODU is looking for two options i.e. to build a new stadium at Powhatan Avenue or to redevelop the existing Foreman Field football stadium.

On October 7, 2014, ODU issued a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint study consultant for the project with the submission deadline of November 6, 2014.

On May 7, 2015, Populous Architects was appointed as study consultant. The scope of the contract is to conduct a study that will help the ODU to determine whether to build a new stadium or to redevelop the existing one and cost estimation.

ODU has conducted a public survey on the project.

In June 2016, ODU finalized to redevelop the existing Foreman Field football stadium.

In June 2017, ODU issued request for proposal (RFP) for the A/E services to plan, design and administer the construction activities of the project with a submission deadline as on June 27, 2017.

ODU is in the process of selecting consultant to plan, design and administer the construction activities of the project with contract award scheduled by September 1, 2017 and finalized stadium plans are expected to be done by July 31, 2018. A construction contract award is scheduled in 2018 with completion of first phase by 2019.
