Summary

NaturEner Energy Canada Inc (NEC) in partnership with AltaLink Management Ltd (AltaLink) is undertaking the construction of the East Palliser transmission line project in Medicine Hat, Cypress County, Alberta, Canada.

The project includes laying of approximately 240kV, 75km of new transmission line, a 35km transmission line between Wild Rose 1 Substation and Elkwater Switch Station and 1km transmission line between Eagle Butte Substation to Wild Rose 2 Wind Power Project and the installation of equipment's at new Bowmanton Substation and existing Cypress Substation

The project will include construction of a new switching station, the reconstruction of an approximately 2km of the existing 138kV 668L transmission line near the existing Cypress Substation.

On May 30, 2012, AUC approved the project for the development.

On December 9, 2013, AltaLink filed an application with AUC for a time extension to undertake the development of the project.

On December 18, 2013, AUC approved the time extension for the project to June 2016.

On March 30, 2015, a new approvals were included to implement a new 240 kV single circuit transmission line,1009L, and rebuilding a portion of the existing 668L transmission line to connect the Wild Rose 1 wind facility (Wild Rose 1) to the transmission system.

In April 2016, AltaLink approved time extension to complete decommission and salvage work associated with the Medicine Hat 138kv transmission line project to October 31, 2016.

In October 2016, project has received permit and license to alter and operate the 138kv transmission line.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a power distribution network across the Cypress in Medicine Hat, Cypress County, Alberta, Canada.

The US$100 million project includes the following:

1. Laying of a 75km transmission line between new Bowmanton Substation and existing Cypress Substation

2. Installation of equipment's at new Bowmanton Substation and existing Cypress Substation

3. Construction of a new switching station at existing Cypress Substation

4. Laying of 35km new transmission line between Wild Rose 1 Substation and Elkwater Switch Station

5. Laying of 1km new transmission line between Eagle Butte Substation and Elkwater Switch Station

6. Reconstruction of 2km existing 138kV 668L transmission line near Cypress Substation
