National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) is planning to build an aluminum smelter complex in Chabahar, Iran.

The project involves the construction of a smelter plant with a production capacity of 500,000 tonnes of aluminum per year and a 1,000MW captive power plant.

It includes the construction of a blast furnace, processing units, control rooms, storage units, a powerhouse, a substation, water cooling units and related facilities, the installation of turbines and turbines and equipment, and the laying of transmission lines.

In May 2016, Nalco signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU) with Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) to investigate the feasibility of establishing a joint venture to build and operate an aluminium smelter.
