The project involves the construction of a 1,150km 660kv HVDC transmission line. It includes the construction of power stations, switching stations and controlling units, the installation of transformers and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
On April 20, 2015, China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co. Ltd (CET) and State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) signed an agreement to develop the project.
Feasibility study was complete.
As of August 2017, study activities are underway.
Construction is scheduled to be complete by 2019.
