National Transmission and Despatch Company Ltd (NTDC) and State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) are planning to construct a power transmission line in Sindh, Pakistan.
The project involves the construction of a 600kV HVDC power transmission line from Port Qasim to Faisalabad. It includes the construction of substations and related infrastructure, the installation of transformers and power control units.
On September 1, 2015, the project received approval from the government of Pakistan.
In April 2015, NTDC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with State Grid Corporation of China to jointly implement the project.
As of June 2017, detailed survey and land acquisition was underway and the project is expected to commence in 2018.
