The Network Rail Infrastructure Limited (NRIL) is undertaking the railway line electrification between Holytown Junction and Midcalder Junction in Scotland, the UK.
The project involves the electrification of a 74km railway line. It includes the installation of poles and transformers and the laying of transmission lines and the construction of related infrastructure.
On January 12, 2017, Carillion Powerlines Limited was appointed as construction contractor for the project.
On July 30, 2017, erection of the first mast marked the commencement of the construction.
In January 2018, Carillion Plc was liquidated due to bankruptcy. As a result of this, NRIL has activated its contingency plans.
