Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is undertaking the metro rail extension project in Uttar Pradesh, India.
NMRC is a special purpose vehicle formed by Noida Authority and Greater Noida Authority.
The project involves the extension of 29.7km metro rail from Noida to Greater Noida.
It includes the construction of a metro rail from Noida City Center in Sector 32 and goes towards Greater Noida via stations in Sectors 50, 51, 78, 101, 81, Dadri road, 83, 85, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 153 and Sector 149. It includes the construction of 21 stations.
The project will enter Greater Noida through Knowledge Park-II and traverse Pari Chowk, Sector-Alpha 1 and 2, before terminating at the depot station proposed near the recreational green, Knowledge Park-IV in Greater Noida and Sector 71 in Noida with Bodaki of Greater Noida.
Delhi Metro Rail Corp. (DMRC) has been appointed as a project management consultant.
In April 2009, the Greater Noida Authority asked DMRC to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on the proposed project.
In October 2013, A detailed project report (DPR) was submitted to the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). In May 2014, the project received approvals from MoUD.
Terms of the MoU have been approved and submitted to the UP government in Lucknow for approval.
On October 7, 2014, the project received approval from the UP government. DMRC has received funds.
On May 21, 2015, Continental Engineering Corporation and Ayesa Engineering were awarded US$235 million to construct the project.
On June 15, 2015, construction works were commenced.
On September 15, 2015, DMRC has re-invited tenders for the supply of coaches at a value of US$121 million as there was not a single bidder participated in the tender process which was issued previously in April 2015.
In March 2016, China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) has been selected to supply the coaches.
On July 29, 2016, NMRC and DMRC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for covering operations and maintenance assistance.
On August 3, 2016, the project secured US$155 million provision approval by the Central project investment board (PIB). PIB has suggested few changes to the project.
On August 13, 2016, A consortium comprising Ansaldo, the ZTE Corporation, and ZTE Telecom was awarded a contract for testing and commissioning of train control, signalling and telecommunication systems for the project.
The contract was signed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and representatives from contractors Ansaldo STS (Italy), M/s Ansaldo STS (India), ZTE Corporation (China) and ZTE Telecom (India). The scope includes design, manufacture, supply, installation, operations, maintenance and training for the system on the entire route, including 21 stations and depot for Noida Metro Rail Corporation.
In December 2016, 60% of the construction works complete.
On April 21, 2017, DMRC issued a tender to appoint a contractor for miscellaneous civil works related to stations, viaducts and depot of ROD with a submission deadline May 22, 2017.
On May 24, 2017, NMRC secured approvals from the Union Cabinet.
As of May 2017, 70% of civil work and 40% of the overall financial progress of the project have been completed.
On July 31, 2017, DMRC issued a tender to appoint a construction contractor for elevated stabling depot for a metro extension with a submission deadline on August 30, 2017.
Construction activities are underway and are scheduled to be completed by April 2018.
