New Hospital Plc. (Nyr Landspitali ohf.) (NLSH) is planning to undertake the construction of new Landspitali hospital project in Iceland.
The project involves the construction of a new 454 beds hospital complex, which will be built in stages.
The first stage of the project involves the construction of a new building which will be 66,000m2 in size for hospital related operations and a 10,000m2 building for university-related operations.
The project includes the construction of inpatient and outpatient wards, an emergency department area, research laboratories, treatment center, patient hotel, operation theaters, sterilization units, waiting rooms, a waste disposal zone and parking facilities, and the installation of security alarms and safety systems.
The design team SPITAL won the competition on the new hospital complex in July 2010. The SPITAL team includes ASK architects, Bjarni Snaebjornsson architect, Kanon architects, Medplan, the Tröd design agency, the Efla engineering company, Lagnataekni, and Norconsult.
An archeological excavation at the site of the Landspítali national hospital was launched in August 2011, with work carried out by the company Antikva.
Preliminary design work on the proposed hospital project has been completed in September 2012.
In November 2015, NIRAS is appointed as a Project Manager to transfer experience from Danish super hospital to Iceland.
On October 12, 2016, Rikiskaup on behalf of NLSH issued tender for the pre-qualification for architectural and final technical Design of the project with a submission deadline on December 12, 2016.
Planning activities are underway. Construction works will commence in 2018 and scheduled to complete by 2023.
