New Lenton Coal Pty Ltd (NLCPL) a wholly owned subsidiary of New Hope Corporation Ltd, and Formosa Plastics Group (FPG) subsidiary company Mai-Lao Power Corporation are developing a coal mine in Moranbah, Queensland, Australia.

The project involves the development of a coal mine with a production capacity of 2MTPA coking and thermal ROM coal on 4,895ha of land. It includes the construction, development and operation of surface and underground, open-cut coal mine, coal handling and preparation plant, and associated infrastructure.

The project includes the construction of an 8MTPA of coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) to produce up to 5MTPA of coking and thermal coal products, co-disposal dam, an in-pit storage cell, an on-site rail load-out facility, an off-lease train load-out facility, haul roads, water storage and flood protection infrastructure, sewage and potable water treatment plants, product stockpiles, waste rock emplacements, a mining infrastructure area and administration, amenity buildings.

SunWater has been appointed as water supply consultant and Caterpillar Inc. as an equipment supply contractor.

On June 27, 2014, The Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (QDEHP) issued the final Final Terms of Reference (TOR) for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to the NLCPL and FPG.

NLCPL and FPG planned to submit EIS for Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) for assessment in June 2016. However, NLCPL and FPG were granted an extension of two years to submit EIS report by June 27, 2018.

Planning activities are underway. Subject to the approvals, construction works are scheduled to be completed by 2022.

Scope

The New Lenton Coal project involves the development of a coal mine with a production capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) coking and thermal run-of-mine (ROM) coal on 4,895ha of land in Moranbah, Queensland, Australia.

The US$300 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of an 8MTPA of coal handling plant

2. Construction of co-disposal dam

3. Construction of an in-pit storage cell

4. Construction of an on-site rail load-out facility

5. Construction of an off-lease train load-out facility

6. Construction of haul roads

7. Construction of water storage and flood protection infrastructure

8. Construction of sewage and potable water treatment plants

9. Construction of product stockpiles
