Namosi Joint Venture (NJV), is a joint venture between Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Newcrest Mining Limited and Nittetsu Mining Co., Ltd. are undertaking the construction of a copper-gold mine in Namosi, Naitasiri, Central, Fiji.
The project involves the development of a copper-gold mine on 72,400ha of land with a production capacity of 60MTPA of copper-gold. It includes the construction, development and operation of a surface open pit copper-gold mine and associated infrastructure.
The project includes the construction of offices, administration buildings, processing facilities, access roads, telecommunication infrastructure, water and wastewater treatment facilities, waste storage facilities, waste disposal facilities and related infrastructure.
In November 2016, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) training was undertaken by Fiji Environmental Law Association (FELA).
In 2016, NJV planned to submit EIA report to the Fiji Government.
As of June 2017, study activities are underway.
Construction is expected to take three years to complete.
