National Irrigation Authority (NIA) is planning to build an irrigation canal in North Cotabato and Maguindanao provinces, the Philippines.
The project involves the construction of an irrigation canal. It includes the construction of a pumping station, a canal, lateral and sub-lateral canals and main and supplementary farm ditches, operation and maintenance of roads and drainage canals, the installation of a substation, and the laying of transmission lines.
On September 28, 2016, NIA received approval for the proposed change in scope, cost, and financing
from the NEDA Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CabCom).
The project will be funded through a mix of government funds, official development assistance (ODA) loans, and private sector funds.
In July 2017, the Japanese government expressed interest in financing the project.
As of August 2017, planning activities are underway.
