National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is planning to undertake the Ilaguen B Multipurpose Dam project in Luzon Region, Isabela province in the Philippines.
The project involves the construction of a dam along with the 88MW hydroelectric power plant. The project will include the construction of the dam, earth-fill embankment, concrete channel spillway, powerhouses, intake tunnel, penstock, sub-station, the installation of turbines, generators, the laying of transmission lines and related infrastructure.
In 2011, SN Aboitiz Power Corp (SNAP), a joint venture between Statkraft Norfund Power of Norway and Aboitiz Power Corp has shown interest for the development of the hydro power plant in Ilaguen B Dam. After completion of dam construction by NIP, SNAP will undertake the construction of the power plant.
NIA is exploring on how to develop the project, one of which could be via Public-Private Sector Partnership (PPP) mode.
Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) has accepted to fund the project.
As of February 2018, feasibility studies are underway.
