NHS Grampian (NHSG) is planning to build a healthcare complex in Aberdeen, Scotland, the UK.
The project involves the construction of a new maternity hospital and a new cancer centre. The new maternity hospital will be replacing existing Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.
It includes the construction of treatment rooms, patient rooms, outpatient departments, laboratories, a cafeteria, storage rooms, administrative facilities, dental school, suttie centre and a new radiotherapy centre and parking and related facilities.
Out of total project value, around US$140 million has been earmarked for a new maternity hospital and US$31 million for cancer centre.
On June 27, 2014, the project received funding approval and will be funded in form of public-private partnership.
In January 2015, NHSG has formulated project management structure and it is planning to obtain outline planning permission.
In June 2015, Initial agreement of the project has been approved by the NHS Grampian health board.
NHSG received US$15 million funds from Wood Family Foundation.
In November 2015, NHSG submitted proposals to Aberdeen City Council for construction of Foresterhill Health Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) site.
In February 2016, the project received conditional approvals from the Aberdeen City Council.
In August 2016, Aberdeen city council approved the car park. Construction work on the car par is expected to commence in 2016.
NHSG is in the process of appointing a contractor and design team for the project. Subject to appointment NHSG will commence detailed planning followed by the submission of an outline business case, full planning application and thereafter full business case.
In December 2016, Graham Construction LLC has been appointed as construction contractor for the project.
