Summary

Notting Hill Housing Trust (NHHT) is planning to build a residential community in Walworth, South East London, England, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a 3,575-unit residential community comprising two–20-story buildings on 26.4ha of land. It will be built in four phases.

The first phase includes the construction of 830 residential units in six blocks of up to 20-story buildings on 4.4ha of land, demolishing eight residential blocks.

The second phase involves construction of about 1,000 homes, the third phase will involve construction of 200 homes and the fourth phase will involve construction of 1,500 homes.

The remaining three phases involve the construction of 4,750m2 of community space, 3,500m2 of flexible retail and work space, 2,500m2 of employment space, a medical center, education facilities, parking and related facilities.

Hawkins\Brown and Mae LLP Architects (Mae) have been appointed as architects.

In May 2014, NHHT entered into an agreement with Southwark Borough Council (SBC) to implement the redevelopment project. Subsequently, HTA Design LLP (HTA) was appointed as master planner.

On November 11, 2014, NHHT submitted the plans to SBC.

On April 24, 2015, NHHT received final approval for the first phase, for which HTA acted as the lead designer with Hawkins\Brown and Mae, and received outline planning approvals for the remaining phases.

In March 2016, NHHT has awarded US$273 million contracts for the six firms for carrying out enabling and demolition works on the site.

Erith, Keltbray, Squibb Group, Coleman & Company, Cantillon and John F Hunt Demolition have been appointed as demolition and enabling contractor.

Demolition and enabling works are underway.
