National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to upgrade a highway in Karnataka, India.
The project involves an upgrade of a 50km road from Mangalore to Karkala via Moodbidri.
The project includes the construction of a four-lane road from Mangalore to Moodbidri, a two-lane road from Moodbidri to Karkala, supporting walls, carriageways, service roads, road separators, pedestrian ways, toll stations and other infrastructural related facilities, the installation of signals and safety system, and the laying of street lines.
The proposed highway section is planned to be executed on DBFOT basis.
On July 16, 2010, a draft feasibility report was submitted on the project.
In June 2015, Union government has given approval for the project.
In January 2016, survey work on the project was completed.
As of July 2016, NHAI is in process of acquiring land for the development of the project and is facing opposition from the local residents.
As of June 2017, Land acquisition works are underway.
