National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking the rehabilitation and upgrade of highway from Lakhnadon to Madhya Pradesh (MP)/Maharashtra (MH) border in India.

The project involves the upgrade of a 105.82km road and is being implemented in two phases.

The first phase involves the upgrade of 49.35km of Lakhnadon-Seoni section, and the second phase involves the upgrade of a 56.47km section.

It will include the construction of supporting walls, carriageways, service roads, road separators and pedestrian ways, and the installation of signaling systems.

The project is being implemented on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis for a concession period of 20 years.

Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultant Pvt. Ltd and JV MC Consulting Engineers (P) Ltd and L.N. Malviya Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd has been appointed as consulting engineers for the first phase.

JV MC Consulting Engineers (P) Ltd and L.N. Malviya Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd, JV of Zaidun Leeng and Artefact has been appointed as consulting engineer for the second phase.

On April 29, 2006, a joint venture of Navabharat with Ferro Alloys Ltd (Malaxmi Highways Pvt. Ltd) was appointed as design, construction, development, finance, operation, and maintenance (DBFOM) contractor for the first phase.

On March 28, 2007, construction works on the first phase commenced.

On January 8, 2007, a joint venture of Sadbhav Engineering and SREI Infrastructure was appointed as DBFOM contractor for the second phase.

On November 29, 2007, construction works on the second phase commenced.

In March 2011, construction on 40.11km was completed under the first phase, and remaining 9.24km section could not be executed due to non-clearance of diversion of forest proposal from Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF). Similarly, construction on 27.73km was completed under the second phase.

On August 23, 2017, NHAI issued a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint a construction contractor to undertake remaining 28.74km of the second phase with a submission deadline on October 9, 2017.

On January 18, 2018, Dilip Buildcon was awarded US$114 million engineering, procurement, and construction contract for development of 28.74km of the second phase.

The project involves the upgrade of a four-lane 105.82km highway from Lakhnadon to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh Border in India.
