National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking the upgrade of highway connecting Rajasthan and Gujarat in India.
The project involves the six-laning of 555km highway from Kishangarh near Jaipur in Rajasthan to Ahmedabad in Gujarat via Udaipur.It is divided in to six packages, they are Kishangarh to Gulabpura section as package I, Gulabpura to Chittorgarh section as package II, Chittorgarh to Udaipur section as package III, Udaipur bypass section as package IV, Udaipur bypass to 401.200km of national highway 8(NH-8) in Gujarat as package V and from 401.200km to 494.410km of NH-8 in Gujarat as package VI.
Three packages will be will be develop under DBFOT basis, two under EPC basis and one under the hybrid annuity.
The project includes the construction of roads, walkways, pedestrian ways and other related infrastructure, the installation of signals and safety system
In February 2013, NHAI issued the fee notification and procured the environment clearances.
Euro Studio has been appointed as consulting engineer.
In February 2016, NHAI received approval from Highway Ministry.
On September 8, 2016, NHAI issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the package II with the submission by September 20, 2016.
In September 2016, IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB) was awarded the contract for the package II with a contract value worth US$34 million under design, build, finance, operate and toll (DBFOT) pattern.
NHAI is also in the process of appointing consulting engineers for all the six sections.
In December 2016, IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB) was also appointed as the contractor for the package - I section from Kishangarh to Gulabpura and Udaipur to Gujarat Border (NH-8) section.
On November 4, 2017, Construction works are commenced on the package I and II.
On December 28, 2017, NHAI issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the six laning of Shamla Ji to Motachilodha from 401.200km to 494.410km (Length 93.210 km) section package V and VI with the submission deadline on February 12, 2018.
Construction works on the package I and II. Tender activities on package V and VI are underway.
