National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking the construction of Amravati-Jalgaon-Maharashtra/Gujarat border Highway Upgrade project in Maharashtra, India.
The project involves the upgrade of 485km two lane road on NH6 to four-lane road Amravati to Maharashtra/Gujarat border via Jalgaon. The project is being executed into three sections.
The first section includes the construction of 194km stretch from Amravati to Chikhli, with the investment of US$429 million.
The second section includes the construction of 150km stretch from Chikhli to Fagne, with the investment of US$382 million.
The third section includes the construction of 141km stretch from Fagne-Gujarat/Maharashtra border, with the investment of US$362 million.
It includes the construction of supporting walls, carriageways, service roads, road separators, pedestrian ways, toll stations and the installation of street lights.
The project is being executed on build operate transfer (BOT) toll basis under design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) pattern.
Louis Berger Inc has been appointed as study consultant, Artefact Projects Ltd in a joint venture with Renardet SA & Partners as independent engineers, L&T-RAMBØLL and Feedback Ventures as project maintenance consultants for the project.
In February 2012, NHAI has released a tender for DBFOT contract and March 30, 2012, was the last date to submit the bids.
In March 2012, the project is received approval from the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure.
On March 31, 2012, L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd and IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited were appointed as a DBFOT contractors.
In December 2012, the project achieved financial closure.
As of July 2013, construction activities have commenced.
On June 17, 2015, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the funding for the proposed project.
In October 2016, construction activities are underway.
In March 2017, 8.23% works are completed on third section.
As of January 2018, 10% work has been completed.
Construction activities are underway and scheduled to be complete by May 2019.
