North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) is planning to undertake the Irang hydroelectric power plant project in Tamenglong district, Manipur, India.
The project involves the construction of a 60MW (4x15MW) power generation facility.
It includes the construction of a 104m dam, a reservoir, a spillway, a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of turbines and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
In August 2012, Electricity Department, Government of Manipur (EDGoM) invited expression of interest (EoI) from companies for the implementation of the project.
In August 2014, NEEPCO and EDGoM entered into a pre-implementation agreement. Under the agreement terms, NEEPCO will complete the project within five years.
NEEPCO, along with the Electricity Department of Government of Manipur, is undertaking survey and investigation works related to the proposed plans.
