NextEra Energy Resources (NEE), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc. is planning to undertake the construction of a wind farm in Tuscola county, Michigan, the US.
The project involves the construction of an onshore wind farm with a capacity of 125MW. It includes the construction of a substation, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of 52 wind turbines (17 in Fairgrove, 19 in Almer, and 19 in Ellington), transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
Spicer Engineering has been appointed as study consultant and General Electric as turbine Supply Contractor for the project.
On February 9, 2016, Ellington residents attended a board meeting to oppose and keep the project on hold for six months.
In September 2016, NEE filed plans to develop the project to the US Department of Energy.
As of May 2017, the project is facing delay due to a local resident opposition.
