Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is planning to undertake the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Jajarkot, Nepal.
The project involves the construction of a 410MW (4× 102.5 MW) hydroelectric power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and related facilities, the installation of transformers and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
The Asian Development Bank expressed interest to invest in the project in coordination with Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL).
A joint venture of SMEC International Pty Ltd, MWH International Inc and Udaya consultants and a joint venture of AF consultants of Switzerland, Hydro Consultant Engineer Ltd and Nepal Environmental and Scientific Services were technically qualified consultants for feasibility study, detail engineering survey and design and environmental impact assessment study.
Nalgad Hydropower Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vidhyut Utpadan Company is the project implementation agency.
In July 2012, NEA completed the project feasibility study.
In May 2016, Nalsing Gad Hydropower Development Committee and SMEC MWH Uday Consult, a joint venture of SMEC International Pty. Ltd and MWH International Inc., entered into an agreement to prepare the detailed project report (DPR). As per the agreement, the joint-venture company will prepare economic, technical and environmental report within the next 30 months.
On December 15, 2017, The Energy Ministry has awarded a survey license for the construction to Nalgad Hydro power Company.
As of December 2017, DPR is yet to be completed and construction is scheduled to commence after the completion of the DPR.
The project involves the construction of a 410MW hydroelectric power plant in Jajarkot, Nepal.
