The project involves the construction of an administrative facility. It includes the construction of a 15,520m2 aircraft maintenance hangar, a 65,775m2 aircraft parking apron, a 60,665m2 aircraft parking apron expansion, and parking and related facilities.
The maintenance hangar will require a special foundation and will include a Secure Access Program Facility (SAPF), overhead bridge crane, and elevators. The project includes all pertinent site improvements (including aircraft wash racks), site preparations, mechanical and electrical utilities, telecommunications, emergency generator, landscaping, irrigation, drainage, parking, and exterior lighting. Mechanical utilities will include compressed air, high pressure cooling air systems, as well as potable and fire protection water distribution, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
On July 7, 2017, NAVFAC invited tenders for design-build(DB) contract, with a submission deadline January 2018.
On January 25, 2018, NAVFAC was awarded Harper Construction US$132 million design and build contract.
The project is expected to complete by January 2020.
