The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MoTI) is undertaking the upgrade of a railway line in Albania.
The project involves the upgrade of a 136km railway line from Durres, Pogradec to Lin section. It includes the construction of a 2.8km railway line between Lin and the border of former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, support structures, railway stations and related infrastructure, the installation of signaling and safety systems and information boards, and the laying of railway tracks.
In June 2015, the Western Balkan Investment Framework (WBIF) granted US$0.8 million for the feasibility study.
The European Investment Bank will provide a loan to develop the project.
COWI Denmark was appointed to undertake feasibility study and environmental impact assessment along with a preliminary technical design.
Study activities are underway.
