The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) of Oman is planning to construct an airport in Oman.
The project involves the construction of a domestic airport with a planned capacity of 250,000 passengers per annum.
The project includes the construction of a runway, a passenger terminal, aircraft hangars, cargo facilities, taxiways, commercial and retail units, and parking facilities, and the installation of elevators, safety and security systems.
In August 2015, MoTC has identified four locations namely Bukha, Lima, Khasab and Al Harf for the development of the project and it has floated a tender for consultancy services.
The appointed consultant will be required to conduct a study in two stages.
The first stage is related to conducting the preliminary study on four sites and any fifth site to be selected by the consultant.
The second stage is related to conducting a detailed study on providing weather data for the proposed site, preparing the master plan of the airport that will be provided with world-class facilities.
The scope of work also included preparing the estimated cost, in addition to conducting a study on the environmental effect on the region if the airport is constructed.
As of July 2017, MoTC is evaluating the tenders documents to appoint the study consultant.
