The Ministry of Transport, Republic of Indonesia (MoT)/(Kementerian Perhubungan) is planning to undertake the construction of a coal rail line project between Pulau Baai and Muara Enim in Indonesia.
The project involves the construction of a 230km railway line between Pulau Baai and Muara Enim. It will include the construction of 13km of railway tunnel and related infrastructure facilities, the laying of the rail track and the installation of tracks, electrification systems and signaling systems.
The project is planned to be implemented through public–private partnership (PPP) scheme.
PT Mandala Resources Korean Company was appointed as the lead consultant for the project.
BITA in association with Connel Wagner Indonesia, now Aurecon provided FEED services.
Feasibility study activities on the project have been completed.
On November 12, 2014, the MoT invited tenders for the project. However, on November 24, 2014 tenders were postponed.
In August 2017, PT. Pelindo II also known as Indonesia Port signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of the project.
Re-evaluation of pre-feasibility studies are underway.
