The Ministry of Transportation of Indonesian (MoT) is planning to build an international airport in West Java, Indonesia.

The project involves the construction of an international airport on 900ha of land with a capacity to handle up to 70 million passengers per annum.

It includes the construction of four runways, two terminals, aprons and parking facility, and the installation of elevators, escalators, safety and security systems.

The project is planned to be implemented through public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

In December 2011, Karawang Regional Parliament confirmed new airport location in Karawang.

Japan International Cooperation Agency has been appointed as study and technical consultant. Study works were completed in March 2012.

In January 2015, the project was placed on hold as the government has prioritized the construction of another airport in Kertajati.

Komite Percepatan Penyediaan Infrastruktur Prioritas has been appointed as the project consultant.

Planning activities are underway. Construction works are expected to commence in 2020 and expected to be completed by 2023.
