Vietnam Railways Administration (VRA) under Ministry of Transport (MOT) is planning to construct a railway line from Ho Chi Minh City through Tien Giang province's My Tho City to southern Can Tho City, Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of a 134km railway line, of which 62km will be for express trains and 1,435 mm gauge. It includes the construction of stations, platforms and other related facilities, and the installation of rail tracks.
The investment capital for the railways will come from Official Development Assistance (ODA), government bonds, the state budget, contributions by private companies, and other sources and will be developed on Build - Operate - Transfer mode.
Vietnam Railway Corporation (VRC) has been appointed as the design consultant.
In July 2017, the Department of Planning and Investment of the city was assigned to coordinate with provinces and financial agencies to unify the planning of the project submitted to the MoT for approval.
