The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Laos (MoPWT) plans to build an expressway in Vientiane, Laos.
The project involves the construction of a six-lane, 14km-long, and 70m-width expressway from the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC) in Xaysettha district to Dongmakkhai village in Xaythany district. It includes the construction of service roads, bypasses, bridges, tunnels, flyovers and the installation of electronic toll points, CCTV cameras, signaling and safety systems.
In January 2017, the Vientiane People’s Council approved the project proposal.
In February 2016, the Government of Laos approved the project plans.
Study activities are underway. The construction works are expected to begin by the end of 2017 with the completion scheduled for 2019.
