The Ministry of Petroleum, Egypt (MoP) in partnership with Ministry of Public Business (MoPB), plans to build a petrochemical complex in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Suez governorate, Egypt.
The project involves the construction of a petrochemical complex with a production capacity of approximately 3.5 million tons of petroleum products and 1 million tons of petrochemicals, like poly-propylene and ethylene derivatives, per year. It includes the construction of a production unit, a storage unit, a central control building and the installation of machinery and equipment.
The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), as well as refineries affiliated to the petroleum sector in Egypt, will co-operate in the project development.
Toyota Corporation has been appointed as the technical consultant for the project.
In September 2017, feasibility study is underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2018.
