Summary

The Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (MoIE), in association with TenneT Holding B.V. (TenneT), is planning to construct a transmission line in the Netherlands.

The project involves the construction of a transmission line from Borssele to Tilburg. The transmission line is divided into two parts, namely South-West 380kV West (Borssele to Rilland) and South-West 380kV East (Rilland to Tilburg), and a new 380kV substation in Rilland.

The project includes the construction of access roads, and other related facilities, the laying of sub-transmission lines, and distribution lines and the installation of cable towers, power transformers, and safety systems.

In March 2011, MoIE proposed a route for the South-West 380kV transmission line.

In mid-April 2014, the final decision was taken to build a docking station in Rilland.

1. Borssele to Rilland Transmission Line 380kV:

In March 2016, MoIE has begun the draft plans inspection for the Borssele-Rilland transmission line and completed the same in April 2016.

On December 2, 2016, MoIE has begun an integration plan inspection to make a final decision for the Borssele-Rilland transmission line and scheduled for completion on January 13, 2017.

As of January 2017, planning activities are underway.

2. Rilland to Tilburg Transmission Line 380kV:

In June 2016, the municipalities of Zeeland have proposed alternative routes for the Rilland to Tilburg.

Tauw has been appointed to study the report and conduct consultation meetings.

On December 23, 2016, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report was submitted to the MoIE.

As of January 2017, the evaluation of the EIA report is underway. Construction activities on the transmission lines are expected to begin in 2020 and slated for completion in 2024.

3. New 380kV Substation in Rilland:

Royal BAM Group nv has been appointed as enabling contractor and Spie as the main contractor for a substation.

MoIE has begun the draft plans inspection for the usage of land on June 5, 2015, and completed the work on July 16, 2015.

MoIE has begun an integration plans inspection for the high voltage substation on October 23, 2015, and completed the same on December 4, 2015.

The enabling works on a Rilland substation commenced in the third quarter of 2016 and are underway. The site construction works for the substation are expected to commence during the period of March to August 2017 and the main construction works are scheduled to start in January 2018 with completion scheduled in 2020.
