The Ministry of Housing, Bahrain (MoHB) is undertaking the construction of a residential community in Salmabad, Bahrain.
The project involves the construction of a residential community comprising 3,520 units on a 100ha land and is planned to be executed in phases.
The first phase includes the construction of 1,265 residential units. The project is expected to secure finance from the Gulf Development Fund.
In January 2016, MoHB completed detailed designs as well as the tender documents for the first phase.
Tenders were invited to construct the first phase of the project. On September 29, 2016, bids were opened and 12 contractors from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia met the requirements and participated in the tender.

On October 2, 2016, a tender was issued for submission of a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint a contractor for the first phase of the project.
The government of Bahrain has signed an agreement with Saudi Development Fund (SDF) for the development of the project. SDF will be funding the project.
On January 30, 2017, MoHB signed the construction contract with Al-Mezeal Construction and Services, Luqman Al-Haddad Construction Company, Mohammed Saif Ajlan Al-Mannai, and Al-Nisr Construction Company.
Grading work is underway and construction is expected to be completed by 2020.
